I visited the new deYoung Museum designed by Herzog & de Meuron with Karmen, Christian, and Alison. The building, replacing the old deYoung Museum at the same site, is clad in a perforated bronze skin, which I believe will oxidize and turn green over time. The front facade is long and in my opinion, goes on a bit too long without relief. The museum massing is ribbon-like, running parallel to the front facacde. There is also a spiraling tower housing the educational center at the north-east end of the building. Artistic concentration: ?
